Whisky distillery in Scotland (Industry)
Cleaning of piping with high-temperature water
Glasgow, United Kingdom
Scotch whisky is considered to be the best in the world. In order to maintain this flawless quality, the bottling machines must be cleaned systematically and frequently. This cleaning is traditionally done using steam, with all of the constraints imposed by such systems (high operating costs, safety precautions, etc). Allied Distillers in Glasgow has opted instead to clean using very high-temperature water (90 to 95°C). This temperature cannot be achieved using traditional water heaters, but ACV HeatMasters can do the job! 8 HeatMaster 150’s (the forerunner of the HeatMaster 200) and to Jumbo 1000 pre-heaters supply the required hot water at a cost far below that of a steam plant. |
|
Available on every continent, the wide range of ACV products fulfils an infinite variety of hot water requirements, in both private and professional applications. Whether for single-family homes, multi-storey residential buildings or hotels, athletic facilities, schools, hospitals or agricultural applications, ACV always has the appropriate solution at hand, as illustrated by the list of international references below.

André W - ocean going transport vessel (Industry)
Hot water, for ice cold seas: compact A 300 backed up by SLE 300
Kampen, Netherlands
The André W represents the latest design for the Kampen Netherlands based Peters Shipyards: a low-maintenance and flexible transport vessel characterized by her large single rectangular shaped hold and ability to operate in icy waters.
Launched into today’s challenging shipping market, the André W is built to be highly economical in operation with a highly versatile hold, adapted to container traffic. Most importantly for her operating profitability the André W is of a “go anywhere” design: with a strengthened hull, sufficient engine power at low speeds and compliance with international regulations the vessel can navigate waterways subject to freezing, such as the Saint-Lawrence Seaway.
Comfort of the crew was also a design criterion for the operating company: each of the seven crewmembers has a private cabin and bathroom facilities. Ensuring their hot water comfort, even in harsh arctic conditions, is the job of an ACV Compact A 300 high output fuel-burning high efficiency steel boiler with a minimum energy input of 381 kW and maximum 419 kW, conforming to the requirements laid down in DIN 4702 Pt 1. This large boiler not only provides copious amounts of hot water for the crew’s comfort, it can be used to provide hot water for industrial use on board. As backup for the crew’s needs an SLE 300 with immersed electric element ensures that domestic hot water is always available.

Arena Zagreb (Sport)
HM 201 and Jumbo 1000 providing power showers to athletes
Zagreb, Croatia
The Arena Zagreb is the capital’s newly built 15,000-seater stadium, home to national games of football, hockey, handball, athletics, basketball and many other sporting competitions in addition to concerts, exhibitions, fairs and conventions. Built in 2008 in order to welcome the 2009 World Men's Handball Championship, the arena is built to the latest specifications and, most importantly, has a flexible seating configuration and rapid ‘turnaround’ between events.
The specifications of the arena also aim to provide home and visiting sides with the highest levels of comfort that could be expected from an international venue: spacious changing rooms are equipped with powerful shower facilities that faultlessly provide hot running water to the many dozens of players who may use them at any one time.
The engineers selected ACV’s word-leading combination of a HeatMaster 201 with a Jumbo 1000 hot water tank. Known around the world for its uniquely reliable and powerful production of hot water, this pair produces over four tonnes of hot water in the first ten minutes of operation and nearly nine tonnes of hot water in an hour of continuous flow. Such power is not the unique preserve of large arenas: the floor area required for the HM 201 and Jumbo 1000 is a very modest 2.5 m2.
With a modern design and facilities like that, it’s no wonder that Arena Zagreb won the Structural Design of the Year award at the 2009 World Architecture Festival.
