André W represents a new class of transport shipping, heated by ACV.
When operating reliability and economics are absolutely necessary, even in tough operating environments: ACV is your best choice for hot water production.Recently delivered to its new owners, the André W represents the latest design for the Kampen Netherlands based Peters Shipyards: a low-maintenance and flexible transport vessel characterized by her large single rectangular shaped hold and ability to operate in icy waters. Launched into today’s challenging shipping market, the André W is built to be highly economical in operation with a highly versatile hold, adapted to container traffic. Most importantly for her operating profitability the André W is of a “go anywhere” design: with a strengthened hull, sufficient engine power at low speeds and compliance with international regulations the vessel can navigate waterways subject to freezing, such as the Saint-Lawrence Seaway.Comfort of the crew was also a design criterion for the operating company: each of the seven crewmembers has a private cabin and bathroom facilities. Ensuring their hot water comfort, even in harsh arctic conditions, is the job of an ACV Compact A 300 high output fuel-burning high efficiency steel boiler with a minimum energy input of 381 kW and maximum 419 kW, conforming to the requirements laid down in DIN 4702 Pt 1. This large boiler not only provides copious amounts of hot water for the crew’s comfort, it can be used to provide hot water for industrial use on board. As backup for the crew’s needs an SLE 300 with immersed electric element ensures that domestic hot water is always available.
